PDFSpacer Add space to a PDF

Privacy policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

This policy covers the PDFSpacer website at www.pdfspacer.com and the PDFSpacer plugin for ChatGPT. "We" means PDFSpacer. PDFSpacer adds writing space between the questions of a PDF.

Summary

The website

Your PDF

When you open a PDF on www.pdfspacer.com, the editor reads it in your browser. Displaying the pages, adding space and exporting all happen on your device. The PDF is not uploaded to us or to anyone else.

Scripts and libraries

We checked the HTML and scripts of this site on 13 October 2026. The pages load no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and our code sets no cookies. Besides our own files, the editor page loads two libraries from public content delivery networks (CDNs):

Your browser downloads these files directly from the CDNs, so their operators receive standard request data such as your IP address and browser user agent. They do not receive your PDF.

Storage in your browser

The editor saves your current PDF and your spacer layout in your browser's IndexedDB storage. This lets it restore your session when you reload the page. The data stays in your browser on your device, and we cannot read it. It remains until you remove it.

To remove it, choose Project → Clear session in the editor, or clear this site's data in your browser settings. Older versions of the editor also saved the layout in localStorage. Clear session deletes that copy too.

Hosting

Vercel hosts the website. To deliver each page, Vercel's servers receive standard request data: your IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time. Vercel handles this data under the Vercel privacy policy.

The PDFSpacer plugin for ChatGPT

The plugin runs the PDFSpacer editor inside ChatGPT. It has two tools. open_pdf_editor opens the editor, and you choose a PDF from your device inside it. edit_pdf_file opens a PDF from a chat in the editor. Opening a PDF from a chat works in the ChatGPT desktop app.

What ChatGPT gives the editor

The editor runs in a frame inside ChatGPT on your device. When you open a PDF from a chat, ChatGPT gives the editor the file name and the contents of the PDF. When you open the editor from the ChatGPT sidebar or a chat tab, you choose a PDF from your device instead.

The editor makes no network requests. Save to ChatGPT sends the spaced PDF back to ChatGPT, which replaces the file in the chat. Download saves a copy to your device.

What our server receives

Our MCP server at pdfspacer-chatgpt.vercel.app gives ChatGPT the list of tools and the HTML of the editor. It never receives your PDF.

ChatGPT calls one of the tools when the editor opens. open_pdf_editor has no arguments. edit_pdf_file includes the name of the file and an opaque reference that ChatGPT uses to find the file. The reference does not contain the PDF.

OpenAI documents that ChatGPT can also attach metadata to tool calls: your language setting, a user agent hint, a coarse location such as city and country, and anonymized IDs for your account, conversation and organization. Our server does not use or store the file name, the reference or this metadata. It does not receive your chats.

Request logs

Vercel hosts our MCP server and keeps ordinary request logs for it: the IP address each request came from, the user agent and the time. These logs do not contain your PDF. Vercel deletes them after the retention period of our hosting plan, which Vercel documents as between 1 hour and 30 days in its runtime logs documentation.

ChatGPT and OpenAI

OpenAI handles your chats and files in ChatGPT under the OpenAI privacy policy.
